Landscape Committee
Projects and achievements.
The landscape committee works year-round to maintain and enhance Gatefield's natural beauty. Committee members: Ann Mule, Kathy Weck, Fern Fried, Jenny Li, Denise Weinberg, and honorary member Jim Burke.
Tree Removal - Three-Year Plan Completion
Approved
Removal and stump grinding of 3 dead/almost dead trees (one large Linden and 2 purple leaf plum) on the island. Final phase of the 2024-2026 tree plan. T&T Tree Services proposal approved at $2,075.
Spring Vinca Planting
Approved
Planting of 25 flats of vinca flowers at both entrances prior to spring cleanup and mulching. Includes 2 free waterings. Cost: $1,125. Up to 4 additional waterings may be coordinated by Fern Fried as needed ($125 each, up to $500 total).
Spring Cleanup & Mulching
Upcoming
Annual spring cleanup and mulching by J&J scheduled for mid-May. Committee declined optional additional spring pruning.
2025 Tree Work & Replanting
Complete
T&T tree work completed on time and on budget. Three new trees replanted at top and bottom entrances. Electrical work and bi-annual fence power washing also completed.
Holiday Lights
Complete
Holiday lighting installation was a fabulous success. Thank you to all volunteers who made this possible.
Annual Block Party
Complete
October 2025 outdoor block party was a wonderful success for the entire neighborhood. Looking forward to the next gathering.
